County gets crime grant

Ellis County has been tabbed for a $10,458 U.S. Department of Justice grant to help improve the communications center at the county sheriff’s office.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, announced the grant award Monday as part of an effort to prevent crime based on local needs. The funding comes through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program.
