Around Town-Project Clean Up Ennis Parks-Holsey Chapel Pack the Pew-Indian Trail Naturalist Moth Night


Project to Clean-Up Ennis Parks – Leggett and Platt of Ennis is spearheading a local project, Park Clean-Up Day, this Friday, April 26, and are inviting the public to join. Individuals, organizations, groups and businesses are welcome to lend a hand in this Eco Initiative at any of the three targeted parks. Crews will be cleaning Jaycee Park from 7-9 a.m., Veteran’s Memorial Park from 1-3 p.m. and at Bluebonnet Park between 3-5 p.m. Holsey Chapel Pack the Pew – Holsey Chapel C.M.E., 709 Quinlan St., Ennis, will host their I Must Tell Somebody – Pack the Pew Annual Day on April 28 at 3:30 p.m. Special guest speaker will be Rev. Markus Rodgers of McIntosh C.M.E. Church. Moth Night at Mockingbird Nature Park – Join the Indian Trail Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists for Moth Night at Mockingbird Nature Park, 1361 Onward Dr, Midlothian, on Friday, April 26 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. As part of the City-Nature Citizen Science challenge, they will be documenting some of the critters that live at Mockingbird Nature Park. There will be special moth lights set up to attract, photograph and identify moths and other insects found in the park. Learn about and how to use the Citizen Science tool and app iNaturalist. Stay only as long as you like, and dress according to the weather. Bring a flashlight to use on the trail and a camera or smart phone to document your sightings. It’s Easy, Fun and Free!
