News of recovery efforts in Ellis County continue to provide direction and hope for citizens impacted by last week’s tornadoes.
Stephanie Parker, the emergency management coordinator for the county, announced two days, Jan. 6 and 9, when debris from the storm can be dropped off by residents affected by the storm.
“This isn’t for everyone in the county,” she said on New Year’s Eve. “This is only for those immediately affected. We will provide locations for them to bring their debris.”
She said area drop-off sites will be announced for those dates. Follow her Twitter feeds for directions at @ EMC-Parker.
She also released a requirement for those depositing – they must bring a drivers license unit to replace those that were lost in the storm.
Parker, in her first year at the position since being hired by county judge Carol Bush, also reiterated an announcement by the National Weather Service. Two more tornadoes were confirmed as touching down, one near Hillsboro, the other north of Maypearl. That brings the current, official total to 12 tornadoes from the same system.
“We greatly appreciate all the assistance from first responders, volunteers, and local businesses for all the assistance in Ellis County,” she tweeted.
