Compared to state’s largest counties, Ellis ranks in bottom half for salaries

Ellis County Commissioners voted in August to accept a cost of living increase, across-the-board, for elected officials as well as for all county employees.

An increase in property values, which had been projected two weeks earlier to the commissioners and county judge, allowed for the hike. There had been two pay adjustments in the previous seven years – a 2 percent bump in 2013 and an across-the-board $900 increase last year.
