Crackdown aimed at emissions issue

Ellis County constables are getting some help keeping the air clean and keeping inspectors honest.

The Commissioner’s Court authorized the Precinct 2 constable’s office to use two department-seized vehicles for unmarked, undercover emissions enforcement.

The constables would use the vehicles to check on various inspection stations throughout the county, making sure each followed state inspection laws.
