Crews ‘rock’ star at memorial

The Ennis Veterans Memorial saw significant work completed Tuesday as crews “rocked” the star that forms the centerpiece for the display, adding bricks to the outside edges. Memorial committee organizers announced they are no longer selling brick pavers for the 2012 construction, but orders are welcome for a planned addition to the memorial in 2013. The committee logged 850 pavers for the initial construction this spring — 100 more than their goal as work got under way. Larry Fincher, committee chairman, said the public is welcome to visit the memorial as construction progresses. “If the weather cooperates this week, we should see a lot of construction done,” he said. For more information about the memorial, call Fincher at 972-875-5673, Buddy Markham at 972-935-3650 or Marylyn Wylie at 978-875-8836.
