Downtown investment policy in the works

The city’s commissioners will consider an ordinance soon to expand existing breaks and add incentives for downtown business owners or downtown investors who invest in the National Register Historic Downtown District.

The commission’s closed-door discussion on city involvement in the May 16 downtown tornado recovery effort began earlier this month, with city leadership reluctant to go on the record with details about reinvestment projects or plans for incentives at this time.
