EISD roll call down slightly this year

Ennis started the new school year with 5,581 students in class, according to head-counters at the 10 campuses that comprise the EISD. The number is down marginally from the last day of school in the spring (5,690), though the anticipated projections will likely rise.
Some families wait until Monday of the second week, with a modest uptick being common until or just after Labor Day. One school official stated that “we also had to turn away a pretty good number of 7th graders who did not have shot records,” though most of them were expected back the following day or by this week. Assistant Superintendent Jason Gilstrap and others on staff monitor the daily attendance figures. Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
