Ellis County Sheriffs office releases warning

We have been made aware of several people (we are working two cases) being contacted by a subject claiming to be a Captain or Deputy with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office. They tell the victims that they missed jury duty for our county judge and there is a warrant for their arrest. They tell the victim that they can pay the $1000.00 fine via telephone by going and getting two Money Pack cards for $500.00 each and calling back with the card information. Our CID administrative assistant spoke to someone living in Dallas County that was contacted by these scammers. Please, if this happens hang up the phone. The ECSO does not contact people about jury duty and county judge does control a jury.
