Ennis defense skins the Bears

Relying on the age-old winning combination of a running game and defense, No. 14 Ennis defeated South Oak Cliff, 30-20, at John Kincaide Stadium on Friday.

The Lions grabbed a 15-0 lead and often appeared on the verge of putting away the Bears, but each time they stumbled at the threshold. By the end of the third quarter, and clinging to a precarious 24-20 lead, it was South Oak Cliff who gained more and more confidence as the game progressed and found themselves in position to deliver an opening-night knockout.
