Ennis ISD’s tax proposal clears hurdle

Residents overwhelmingly passed the Ennis ISD’s tax ratification proposal. Voters were asked to approve an Ennis ISD maintenance and operations tax rate that could generate almost $1 million for the district during an election held Sept. 8 “We are pleased to announce that the TRE has been overwhelmingly approved by the voters,” a statement on the district’s website reads. “Regardless of how you voted, Ennis ISD wishes to thank you for participating in this process and exercising your right to vote. Decisions like these directly affect our students and the entire community. Thank you to all who supported the TRE and for your continued commitment to a culture of excellence at EISD. We are doing great things today and, with support like this, we will move into the future continuing to foster passion and achievement in the life of every student.” At the Ennis ISD school board meeting back in July, trustees approved a maintenance and operations tax rate that had to be approved by voters before it could be adopted by the school district. The board also adopted an order calling for a tax ratification election (TRE). Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
