Ennis to Corps: Let Lake Bardwell rise

The city of Ennis has asked the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to let water levels at Lake Bardwell Reservoir stay above the 421-foot standard.

As the lake level inched higher after midweek rains directed nearly four feet of water into the reservoir in a day, City Manager Steve Howerton said the overarching predictions of a significant drought for 2012 to follow 2011’s dry spell drove the request. Howerton filed a formal request letter with the Corps on Thursday.
