EPT Christmas play debuts Nov. 30; Popular local actors join cast

A promising holiday comedy opens at the Ennis Public Theatre Nov. 30 and runs through Dec. 16. Jones Hope Wooten’s A Doublewide, Texas Christmas, under the direction of Shelley Aubrey, has all the requirements of fun and family for the coming Yuletide season. “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas –and trouble – in Doublewide, the newest and tiniest town in Texas,” reads the theater’s publicity for this rollicking comedy. “Learning the county has double-crossed them and now their official incorporation papers are in jeopardy, this band of eccentric Texans throw themselves into taking on the big guys. By the time this full-tilt rocket ride of lunacy climaxes in a what-else-can-go-wrong live television presentation, you’ll have doubled your Christmas spirit.” Director Aubrey said the play is the kind she enjoys doing the most.
