Ferris PD may have break in 2009 cold case

Ferris Police investigators hope an untested piece of physical evidence will lead to a break in a 2009 homicide. More than eight years ago Stephen Taylor and Janine Johnson were violently murdered while they slept in their Ferris home. The murder took place between the hours of 7-8 p.m. on March 21, 2009, and 1:26 p.m. the next day in the 400 block of Church Street. Ferris Police Chief Eddie Salazar stated the untested piece of evidence came to light after investigators presented the case to the Sheriff’s Association of Texas Cold Case Review Team in Austin. Formed in 1985, the Cold Case Review Team has provided assistance to all law enforcement agencies on unsolved-major crimes. “We took a particular piece of clothing, and we are going to have it analyzed by the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences. Salazar said.” We are just waiting to get back the DNA results.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
