Ferris PD to continue work on cold cases


Adjustments in Ferris to make up for a budget shortfall will not affect the police department’s ability to continue work on investigating cold cases, which includes some unsolved murders. The department is currently investigating three unsolved murders. Ferris staff have said they don’t like to see murder cases go unsolved, which is why these cold cases were able to be re-opened. City Manager Bill Jordan included $8,565.28 in the city’s budget for DNA collection and testing with the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science, which is able to aid in murder investigations.
