Gentry tribute event planned

Nick Todaronick@ennisdailynews.com

A memorial monument to Ennis Little League co-founder and former Ennis Daily News publisher Charles Gentry is set for dedication Monday.

Gentry, who died in January 2012, was one of the founding members of the Ennis Little League administration, as well as an unwavering fan of Ennis sports and pillar of the local community. Mayor Russell Thomas is set to preside over the dedication of the Gentry monument at Bluebonnet Park on Monday.

“I knew Charles Gentry very well and he was one of my favorite all-time people,” Thomas said. “If I could pay him the highest compliment, he reminded me a lot of my dad.”
