Grad ceremony to be live-streamed

By Mark Warde

Friday’s Class of 2016 commencement exercises at Ennis High School will be live-streamed for the first time. Considering this week’s weather patterns, the decision could prove timely.

Currently the venue is set for the 10,000 seat Lion Memorial Stadium, though contingency plans are in place.

“This will be a first,” said communications officer Art Del Barrio, who has begun his third year at EISD. “We’re setting it up now. In fact, if we have to go indoors it will be shown to those seated in overflow areas.”

The project is a collaborative effort between the technology department at the high school, which involves Scott Short and his team, as well as Del Barrio. Last week’s 100-year celebration at the old high school campus was live-streamed as a pilot for Friday’s graduation.
