A crowd of government officials, business leaders and community luminaries gathered near the site of the future Brookshire’s on Thursday morning for its ceremonial groundbreaking.

What started with a meeting between store executives and Ennis city officials in March 2011 will come to fruition in July, according to Mayor Russell Thomas.
