Human skull found near Howard Road in Waxahachie

Waxahachie Police confirmed that a human skull was found in a wooded area near Howard Road late Tuesday afternoon. Police received a report at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 that the skull was first noticed by a surveyor who was observing the area. Police explored the area after responding to the call but soon suspended the search just before nightfall. After the area was secured, investigators continued the search the next morning and discovered more skeletal remains along with a pair of jeans and two different shirts. The entire area was examined and all recoverable remains were retrieved. According to the WPD press release, there was no identification found with the remains and it is unknown if they belonged to any known missing person. “It is apparent that the remains have been exposed to the elements for some time and it cannot be determined if the remains are that of a male or female and the cause of death is unknown at this point,” the release states. “The [Dallas County] medical examiner has been notified and investigators are continuing to work toward identifying the unknown subject.” The investigation is ongoing. Residents with any information on the case can contact Waxahachie Police Lt. Marcus Brown at 469-309-4426. By Daily Light report Posted Dec 12, 2018 at 10:58 PM Waxahachie
