JP candidates tout job qualifications

Cynthia Billingsley, 49, a mother of seven and a restaurant manager, earned an associate degree from Navarro College in paralegal studies. That is in addition to a bachelors degree in criminal justice at the University of North Texas. “I’m not like the others up here,” she said. “I’m an everyday person. I’m honest and a citizen who is willing to work for and bring justice to people.” She said with a smile, “I love the law, except for the time I got a speeding ticket.” She said she would like to extend JP office hours until 7 p.m. at least one day a week as a convenience to residents, and added that she believes in prayer to help make decisions.
