The reviews are in early this season, and Lady Lion softball is a hit.

Ennis (8-0, 1-0) remained undefeated and won its district opener Tuesday at Red Oak 2-1. The Lady Lions finished with more hits (7-3) and fewer errors (1-2). Coach Rodney McNeill was really pleased to get the win over what he considers a quality team.

“There are at least five good teams in our district, and Red Oak is definitely one of them,” McNeill said. “Their young pitcher showed a lot of improvement from when I saw her last year. They got the ball in play up and down the lineup and did well defensively.”

As for his team, the Lady Lions didn’t commit more than one error for the third-straight game.
