Lessons from “what momma said” inspires new book

Charlotte Watson treaded carefully writing her first book, “Breaking Free,” with its inspiration being her mother and the differences between what mother’s say and what God says about living. Explaining the 75-page paperback as “helping individuals live on purpose and with purpose,” she addresses beliefs “that have become embedded in our lives and how they impact us.” She surveyed 100 women about the subjects they were taught at home by their matriarchs, either their mother, grandmother or woman of influence, and found plenty of “momma said” lessons, not all of them scripturally sound. “Often times we rely on or recall the things our momma said, but we must know that what God says is more important,” says Watson. “I’m not suggesting what our mothers told us was wrong, but it wasn’t always the best option from a biblical perspective.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
