Lion baseball ready to tackle 15-4A slate


The Ennis Lions return a lot of experience which will be necessary to in battling a loaded slate of district foes.

The Lions were 19-11-1 last year with a district record of 10-4. Ennis won a playoff series against Forney, and the vast majority of those players return this season.

“I hope those returning guys are hungry to take our team a step further,” said coach Kevin Kalinec. “We have a good group coming back, considering only two starters and one of our pitchers graduated. What we’re lacking now is leadership and we’re still looking for somebody to step into that role. (2010 graduate) Nate (Dixon) was an outstanding leader and he brought some of that football mentality, which always helps.”
