Price to be MLK program guest


Dallas County Commissioner for District 3 John Wiley Price will be the featured speaker at the Martin Luther King, Jr. and Lovia Boyd Community Award Celebration on January 20 at the San Jacinto Auditorium, 501 N. Gaines St. Price heads up the program The Power of Love, hosted by Unity in the Community. Price presides as ranking member of the Dallas County Commissioner’s Court. Famed for his outspokenness on state and national civil rights issues, Price is the first African American elected to the Dallas County Commissioner’s Court, serving for 33 years. Other Martin Luther King Day events, planned by Unity in the Community of Ennis, have been announced. The art, poetry and essay contest is set for 7 p.m. Friday, January18 at the Ennis Public Library. The Power in Wellness Health Fair will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday January 19, hosted by Ennis Regional Medical Center at 501 N. Clay St..
