United Way Struggles to Make Goal

Greater Ennis United Way is short of reaching its donation goal this year of $325,000. The final day of the donation campaign for is January 31, and unless there are some major donations before then, the goal will not be realized. Executive Director Eliza Fulton says that the goal that is set by volunteers each year is usually difficult to reach during election years. “Elections affect the donations during those years,” she said. When asked about the current year’s fundraising efforts she stated that much of the donations come from companies and schools who have United Way campaigns through one-time donations or monthly deductions from paychecks. “It just means that we will have less to give to the community efforts in Ennis,” Fulton said. “All the donated monies in Ennis stay in Ennis to help with several charitable institutions.” Read stories like this and more in your latest edition of The Ennis News.
