Long live the Texas Longhorn


A Texas Longhorn gazes out onto Country Club Road from the confines of the Country Club Ranch on Monday afternoon. A group of them huddled under a shade tree on property now owned privately. The land used to be home to the city’s golf course and clubhouse. The Longhorn has long been associated with Texas have a high drought-stress tolerance and are known for their diverse coloring, which can sometimes be a mix colors ranging from red, black and even white.
