McKibbin family shown icy support

Mark Warde, editor@ennisdailynews.com

On the same day it was announced in Washington, D.C. that the Ice Bucket Challenge, a fund-raising campaign for Lou Gehrig’s Disease has received $31.5 million in donations over the past month, a local group followed suit in Ennis.

The chilly ceremony was held in front of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in honor of its owner, Joe McKibbin, who has been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for eight years.

Once a person has been challenged the individual is called to either donate to the ALS Association within 24 hours or get doused in iced water.
