No.1 Ennis sweeps No. 4 Forney in thriller

In one of the game’s biggest plays, Courtlyn Benitez was able to dislodge the ball from the Forney catcher for a 1-0 lead in the first inning, as No. 1 Ennis edged No. 4 Forney 2-1 on Thursday night.

When then-unranked Lady Lion softball won 4-0 at then-No.2 Forney a month ago, it seemed like the maroon team snuck up on a goliath.

In the aftermath of Thursday’s 2-1 Ennis home win in the rematch, however, if anyone is goliath these days it’s the No. 1 Lady Lions (22-2-1, 10-0). Forney finished with more hits (5-3) and each team made one error. The Lady Lions now have a two-game lead on the rest of 15-4A.
