Officer takes leash from former K-9 officer


K-9 Officer Justin Powell & Snitch. To say Officer Justin Powell and his partner, Snitch’s changeover to their new position has been anything but exciting would be a bit far-fetched. Get it? The two have recently taken on new positions: Powell is now a K-9 officer for the Ennis Police Department and Snitch has had to adjust to being with his new partner. As a K-9 officer, Powell’s job description becomes a lot more social than his previous standing. “I have a lot more contact with people than I did on daily patrol,” says Powell. His days now consist of lots of roadside investigations and drug-related cases. Powell recently began SWAT school in preparations for his new job. Officer Powell is a military veteran. He has worked in law enforcement for nearly four years and says he “comes from a long family line of law enforcement workers.” Powell worked as a patrol officer before moving to this new setting as K-9 officer.
