Emma and Ed Richardson were scared out of bed in their home off Old Telico Road as a reported tornado swept through sometime after midnight today.

They aren’t alone. The residential neighborhood off State Highway 34 in Ward 1 has some of the most significant damage in town.

“All I know is, boy, it was noisy,” Emma Richardson said as she walked back to her home with the help of a walker after touring some of the damage in the early afternoon.

Once the storm cleared and people got moving, she said the neighborhood has been active in helping its residents get aid and have their needs met. Power was still out for much of the neighborhood earlier today, and crews have been at work. About 560 homes in Ennis were still without power at 4 p.m.
