Phil Banker, phil@ennisdailynews.com

An Ennis man wanted on multiple theft charges attempted to flee police Thursday before surrendering without further incident.

Det. Paul Asby of the Ennis Police Department said Cpl. Brad Sherrard responded to a criminal trespass and possible shoplifting call at Walmart at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.  Sherrard spoke with a Walmart loss prevention officer about the suspect and identified him as 56-year-old L.C. Sheffield.
