One indicted in New Year’s Eve killing

An Ellis County grand jury has taken the case of a New Year’s Eve murder in Ennis a step forward.

Pedro Ortega Bastida, the driver of a vehicle that was involved in a shootout with a resident in the 400 block of Avenue A, has been indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for his alleged part in the incident.
