Palmer ISD making the grade

Praising the persistence of students, the Superintendent of the Palmer Independent School District, Kevin Noack, said their hard work is where credit should be given for the recent positive scoring published by the Texas Education Agency. Having begun his tenth year at the helm in Palmer and 18th overall as a superintendent, Noack has publicly stated the new grading system is flawed and unfair. For example, schools with a higher percentage of lower socio-economic students often do not perform as well as students who are in schools with a small percentage of low socio-economic students. It is why he avoids comparing district test scores: all things are not the same. A native of Wichita Falls, he’s old school enough to recognize passion and grit and how they foster perseverance. Those ingredients may not be reflected in an individual test, though Noack believes they figure significantly into a students success beyond the classroom.
