Police to remain vigilant during long holiday weekend

The Ennis Police Department personnel will be working extended shifts for the Memorial Day Weekend and during the peak hours of the Polka Festival weekend.  In addition to the Ennis Police force, members of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and undercover officers will be on duty during this weekend.

Law enforcement will be especially concerned with and will be strictly enforcing laws relating to the safety of spectators and participants:

  1. Public Intoxication
  2. Disorderly Conduct
  3. Driving While Intoxicated
  4. Speeding and Reckless Driving
  5. Illegal Parking in “No Parking” zones and Fire Lanes.

While the Ennis Police Department will attempt to notify owners of illegally parked vehicles, any illegally parked vehicle is subject to being towed at the owner’s expense.

Glass containers and glass bottles are prohibited from the downtown area during the Polka Festival Weekend.  All citizens are encouraged to use only paper, plastic, or metal containers for the safety of all Polka Festival attendees.

Handicapped parking will be provided at the Ennis Public Library parking lot.
