On 3/14/19 at approximately 5:23 a.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 287 and Pigg Rd. The preliminary investigation shows that a silver 2016 Toyota Corolla passenger car was traveling north on Pigg Rd, approaching US 287. A white Ford E-250 utility van was traveling south on US 287. For an as of yet undetermined reason the passenger car disregarded a stop sign and drove out into the right lane of US 287. The utility van struck the passenger car on the driver’s side causing both vehicles to end up in the center median. The driver of the passenger vehicle, 63-year-old Marie Chambers, of Waxahachie, was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, in Waxahachie, with life-threatening injuries. At the hospital, Mrs. Chambers was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace #4, Steve Egan.
