Police arrest assault suspect

Justin Tubbs

An Ennis man was taken into police custody Sunday for allegedly assaulting a family member with a

rifle in hand.

Investigators say Artemo Hernandez, 46, assaulted a female in the 300 block of Pecan St, where they

lived with children. Lt. Mike Hopson, spokesperson for the EPD, said the woman was likely fearful of

Hernandez for those children when she made the call to police. He didn’t say how Hernandez is related

to the woman who made the call.
