Previewing Ennis softball regional quarterfinal

Mark Warde, editor@ennisdailynews.com

The No. 6 ranked Ennis softball team, a week after getting a monkey off its back, is in position to advance deeper in the Class 4A playoffs.

A best-of-three game series against Texarkana’s Texas High School begins on Friday night with a single, seven-inning game at 6 p.m.

The second contest is on Saturday afternoon in a 4 p.m. start. If the teams split the two games, a third, winner-take-all meeting, will commence at approximately 6 p.m. Saturday.

The series will be played at a neutral location, Mineola High School, which was agreed upon by both schools. Mineola is 47 miles east of Terrell on Hwy. 80.

The winner moves to the Regional Semifinal the following weekend against the survivor between Mesquite Poteet (23-12) and Little Elm (23-7).

Ennis (33-5) and Texas High (20-11) have arrived on different paths. Only one will advance.
