Runoff election today

Bobby-Crittenden

    Crittenden

Some Ennis residents can vote today in a run-off for the Republican candidate for Road & Bridge Precinct 1 county commissioner.

The two candidates on ballots for some voters are Bobby Crittenden and Randy Stinson. Crittenden and Stinson narrowly took the most votes out of five candidates in the March primary election. The Republican nominee will face off against Ronald Levingston, who won a place on the Democratic ticket.

The only county runoff on the Democratic ticket is for Precinct 3 constable. Incumbent Jimmy Ray and challenger Tyron Davis will appear on Democratic ballots for some. Davis was arrested earlier this month and is facing charges related to campaign violations after he allegedly helped some nursing home residents fill out mail-in ballots but failing to report that he helped.

To vote in the Precinct 1 commissioner election, people must live within Precincts 113, 115, 123-124, 128, 136-138, 141-142, or 147-149.

Ennis voters in voting Precinct 123 can vote at Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, 1007 Daffan Ave. Voters in Precinct 124 can vote at Trinity United Meethodist Church, 1500 S. Hall Street. And voters in Precincts 128 and 136 can vote at the Ellis County Sub-Courthouse at 207 S. Sonoma Trl. in Ennis.

All Ellis County Republican voters can still vote in three statewide primary elections today. Gary Gates and Wayne Christian are each vying for the Republican nomination for railroad commissioner.

Two other Republican primary races are for judges of court of the state court of criminal appeals.

Polls are open until 7 p.m. today.
