Avalon holds Del Bosque retirement party – Event set for Sat., May 18


Longtime superintendent of Avalon schools, Dr. David Del Bosque, formerly an administrator at St. John’s in Ennis, will be honored at his retirement on Saturday, May 18, at the historic J.P. Griffith gymnasium on the corner of Kirby and Giles streets. A potluck brisket dinner begins at 6 p.m. with the program starting at 6:45 p.m. Adult plates are $7.50 with children’s meals costing $5. Leftover tickets from pre-sale will be available in limited numbers at the door. There is no cost for attending just the program. All proceeds from ticket sales from the dinner are marked for the Avalon Orange and White College Scholarship Fund and the Riley-Dirk Human Resources Fund.
