Severe weather continues

Severe weather is expected in eastern Ellis County until 1 a.m. in Ennis and the surrounding areas with a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 8 p.m.
Thunderstorms and showers are expected to be scattered until ending as the night goes on. The National Weather Service is warning that eastern Ellis County may see severe storms, large hail and possibly tornadoes, especially early in the evening.
Earlier in the day, tornado warning sirens sounded in Ennis and the city’s automated warning telephone system was activated, cautioning local residents and businesses of the possibility of a tornado touchdown.
Storms rolled through the area on Monday, with the most damage reported in Avalon. School is expected to be open in Avalon after storm damage Monday night forced classes to close on Tuesday.
Weather forecasts show windy conditions with a 10 percent chance of rain on Wednesday.
