Sheriff: County crime down

The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office released statistics Friday showing violent crimes and crimes against property have decreased for the fourth consecutive year.

The sheriff’s office saw 660 total crimes reported in 2012, at an average of 55 offenses per month according to Uniform Crime Reporting statistics released Friday. That total is a 9.1-percent reduction from 2011’s total of 726.
