Shooting incident leads to indictment

Ennis police arrested an Ennis man at the end of April for an alleged aggravated assault after he was treated for a gunshot wound, and an Ellis County grand jury has affirmed the charge against him.

Lt. Mike Hopson of the Ennis Police Department said officers took 18-year-old Shane Kauffman into custody after his release from medical care stemming from an April 6 incident during which he allegedly exchanged gunfire with a homeowner in the 500 block of West Milam Street.
