BULLARD — After squandering several scoring opportunities, No. 5 ranked Ennis finally broke through with five runs in the sixth inning to post a 7-3 triumph over No. 2 Hallsville at Brook Hill School’s Schwaub Field.

The win gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series at the Class 4A, Regional Finals. Game Two is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday night. If needed, a decisive Game Three will be played at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Ennis is one win away from capturing their first berth in next week’s Final Four state tournament at the University of Texas in Austin.
