Spence announces city marshal candidacy

Daryl Ray Spence, a lifelong resident of Ennis and 1986 graduate of Ennis High School, has announced his candidacy for the position of Ennis City Marshal in the May 14 election.

Spence said he wants the city marshal position to make Ennis an even better place to live.

“I can bring a fresh perspective and fresh ideas based on my experience with the Ellis County and Dallas County Sheriff’s departments,” Spence said. “I believe a Crime Stoppers program should be started and continue to participate in the National Night Out and other community awareness programs. I would like to see the street crimes unit and K-9 program return to start the process of removing the drugs and gangs off the street. We need more officers on the streets and not on the highways working traffic. A DARE program should be implemented. We can make, working together, Ennis much better.”
