Start-up for Habitat House on Saturday

Habitat for Humanity kicks off the construction of a new home in Ennis on Saturday, Jan. 13. Located near S. Oak Grove Rd. and the IOOF Nursing Home, the project is the 12th home built in Ellis County in as many years, though just the second in Ennis. City officials, interested volunteers and groups who are considering joining the non-profit project, will meet at 10 a.m. at the 50 x 116 lot. It is located at 402 Avenue E. The concrete slab for the 1,200 sq. ft. house was poured on Dec. 29. Once complete, the home will have four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Habitat, whose Ellis County office is in Waxahachie, has averaged building one home per year. Team members, primarily volunteers who are comprised of individuals, groups and company teams, work only on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon. John Reynolds, the president of Habitat for Humanity of Ellic County, will be present on Saturday. He encourages those interested in volunteering should visit elliscountyhfh@gmail.com and place “Volunteer Sign-Up” in the subject line. Jan. 20 is Volunteer Day, when help can begin coming forward on-site. Read this story and more in your Weekday edition of The Ennis News. Be informed, subscribe today!
