State champs rally: Lions past and present honored

Confetti filled the air and lined the streets Saturday during the city’s state champions parade and rally in downtown Ennis.

In the back of convertibles were the likes of famed Ennis coaches, present and past. Sam Harrell, the head coach of the early 2000s Lions; Bill Cox, the 1975 coach; and Jack Alvarez, of 2014’s Class 5A, Division II state champion team; all waved as “ticker tape” fell down like snow.
