Suit filed against Sheriffs by resident

A pair of Ellis County Sheriff deputies are facing a civil action lawsuit with the United States District Court’s Northern District of Texas (Dallas Division) for reportedly mishandling a Waxahachie man who had called them to request safe transportation to his place of residence. The suit says the man, Ruben Solis, 67, was assaulted and wrongly arrested by the officers. In a news release the Sheriff’s Department states they are not currently commenting on the suit. Solis has Huntington’s disease, a degenerative disorder which effects physical and mental abilities and prevents Solis from operating a motor vehicle. Huntington’s hallmark symptom is uncontrolled movement of the arms, legs, head, face and upper body. It also effects thinking, reasoning and judgment among other mental skills.
