Suspect in crash jailed for assault

Police arrested a man Sunday pending charges of aggravated assault after he was treated for a gunshot wound.

Lt. Mike Hopson of the Ennis Police Department said officers took 18-year-old Shane Kauffman into custody after his release from medical care stemming from an April 6 incident during which he allegedly exchanged gunfire with a homeowner in the 500 block of W. Milam Street.
