Tornado watch issued

Nick Todaro, nick@ennisdailynews.com

Ennis is included in a tornado watch until 9 p.m. tonight issued this afternoon by the National Weather Service.

Scattered thunderstorms in an area of Texas that encompasses a number of north central counties are capable of spawning twisters as they move to the northeast this afternoon. Storms are expected to be concentrated in the Cookie County, Denton County, Wise County, Parker County and northern Tarrant County area, according to the NWS’s forecasts. Hail up to the size of tennis balls and winds up to 70 miles an hour are possible.

The threat of an isolated tornado exists and the watch will hold for much of north Texas this afternoon and evening.
