The outcome was highly anticipated by both parties and the independent candidate who ran for national offices. In the highly contested race for United States senator, results took twists and turns as Ted Cruz led in early voting, and Beto O’Rourke pulled ahead shortly after polls closed on Election Day. In the State Representative, District 6 race, Republican Ron Wright led early voting with 69.4 percent of the vote against Democratic challenger Jana Lynne Sanchez’ 29.4 percent. Two races that were closely watched in the county were Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 and Constable Pct. 3, both a traditionally Democratic seats. Early voting showed Republican candidate Dan Cox holding a lead of 52 percent to 48 percent over Democrat candidate Sharon Livingston.
